RECONCILING UNITED METHODIST & FRIENDS OF NORTH CAROLINA MINUTES
JULY 16, 2001
This church marketing campaign will kick off in September and all NCUMC have been urged by Bishop Edwards to host an open house in September.
Takes Place September 29, 2001 in Durham/Raleigh.† We discussed marching in the parade as well as manning a table to distribute water.† Laurie mentioned inviting other Durham UM Churches to participate as well.
We discussed mailing a letter to Clergy in both conferences asking if their church does have open hearts, open minds and open doors.† Gayle & Debbie will continue to work on this.
We have invited the National Board to Durham for their February 2002 meeting and they have agreed.† We will need to work on coordinators for food and hosing for these board members while they are here.† Members from Calvary UMC have also invited the Board Members to worship on that Sunday, and may also host the Triangle Gay Menís Chorus and a luncheon afterwards.
Painting still has not been completed in our office space at Calvary.† We discussed completing this in the fall/winter when it is cooler upstairs.† Buddy will be in charge of this project.
Sam discussed the ad we will publish along with PFLAG in the Independent Gay Pride Issue in September.
Our next worship service is October 21st.† We discussed initial plans for this worship which may include us being hosted by Orange UMC.† Kelly will check with the minister there to see if their space is available and if he is available that Sunday.
